Club Sevens History
Since its inception in 1999, the Club Sevens has developed to encompass women’s and students’ competitions along with a Vase competition for the more junior clubs.
First played over two weekends with the finals at Harlequins’ Stoop Memorial ground, Club Sevens relocated to Richmond Athletic Ground in 2006 so that all 7s competitions could be run simultaneously across the RAA’s seven pitches on the same day.
With teams competing from throughout Middlesex and beyond, the event retains the traditional end-of-season slot, and the festival atmosphere to go with it. The organising committee really knew the event had made it into the rugby calendar when, just like the senior competition, in 2008 they had their very own streaker.
